"What's a nice kid like you doing in a place like this?"

"No. Really. You shouldn't be here."

"Should you?"

Your eyes are watering. Is it from the smell? Your stomach raises acid that feels like it hardens into stone in your throat. You do not feel as brave as you did. You never felt brave.

A tear streams down your face like a comet trail. You see the creature's head twitch and tilt and then focus, watching the rounded droplet leave your trembling chin and land quietly on the chessboard-like surface solidly beneath your feet.

It grins.

Or you think it's a grin. It wavers on a razor's edge of a grin and a snarl. The creature stands straight and your throat burns from the solid wad of bile that feels like it's caught there as you watch it. It comes closer to you in the light, frantic, reddened eyes with pale pink irises meeting your gaze. It looks like a person, angular and androgynous, with rabbit ears clumsily affixed to the top of their head - one bolt-straight up in the air and the other hunched in a flopped position over their face. Short white hair in what you guess was once a well-manicured hair style now is unkempt, tousled, as wild as the energy and movement of the body it's attached to. White gloves, a rumpled stark white button-up shirt with a torn red and black vest, a shredded bow tie of similar colors hanging from their thin neck.

The part that seems to jar you from the fantasy that this is a deranged-looking human in a costume is from where a human would have their hips and their pelvis and, eventually, legs and feet, there is the two legs of a rabbit, white-furred in color, starting just below the vest and ending with blood-matted feet.
